Watch a Special Thanksgiving Message Below
November 22, 2024
Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays—not just because I love to eat, but because it’s a time to reflect on gratitude. This year, I am especially thankful for my 99-year-old grandmother, who is still excited about cooking most of our Thanksgiving dinner. Spending time with her and my family always warms my heart.
My dad always reminded me, "When someone is kind to you, say thank you." So, to this amazing community, I want to say thank you. From the moment I arrived in Hempstead, you have been supportive and kind. I have worked hard to face challenges head-on, and no matter the situation, you have stood by me. Thank you!
I am thankful for the progress we are making as a district. Seeing our first major construction project take off fills me with pride. Honestly, I find myself visiting Bobcat Stadium two or three times a day just to watch the progress—they're doing incredible work. I’m excited, and I hope you share this excitement with me. At the same time, I’m equally proud of the strides we are making in instruction and improving student outcomes. Our focus remains on enhancing teaching and learning across the district to ensure every student reaches their full potential. From implementing high-quality instructional materials to refining practices that support student success, we are working to create the best possible learning environment. We are also finalizing the design of the new Early Childhood Center, alongside many other construction projects across the district. None of this would have been possible without your support.
I am thankful for the students of Hempstead ISD. This week, I watched our girls’ basketball team dominate Hearne and attended Hempstead Theatre Company’s production of Of Mice and Men. Both were remarkable experiences. At each event, I noticed many of our students participating in multiple activities across the district, showcasing that true Bobcat spirit that makes me so proud.
These students love school and are eager to engage in the extracurricular and co-curricular programs we offer. This week, I had the opportunity to meet with my Bobcat Student Advisory Council. These students keep me connected to the pulse of the schools while participating in meaningful leadership activities. I’m so grateful for their insights.
I am especially thankful for our teachers, who give so much of themselves to our students every single day. Teaching is without a doubt one of the toughest jobs there is. The planning, preparation, and effort that go into each lesson before they even step into the classroom are extraordinary. Our teachers work tirelessly to deliver the best possible instruction, and it’s a joy to witness their dedication in action.
As we head into the Thanksgiving Break, November 25-29, I encourage you to take time to enjoy your family and friends over the next nine days. Rest, recharge, and savor the moments with those you love. When we return on December 2, we will be ready to continue serving our students with renewed energy and purpose.
Thank you for your support as we #PowerUp to #HigherHeights.
Happy Thanksgiving!
With Bobcat Pride,
