Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
Fall is finally here! If you're like me, you're enjoying the cooler weather. I hope you take time to enjoy it before it warms up again.
Learning & Leading to Higher Heights
Our elementary and secondary students completed their benchmarks over the last few days, and our teachers are hard at work analyzing data and planning for student success. They’re dedicated to providing the best instruction possible.
Our mission is clear: "In collaboration with our community, Hempstead ISD will equip our students with the necessary tools to attain their maximum potential and prepare them for success in college, career, military, and life by providing consistent, comprehensive, high-quality education." We work daily to uphold this mission, and with your partnership, we will continue to climb to #HigherHeights.
A new nine weeks starts on Monday, October 21 for all students. We’ve been emphasizing the importance of #PowerUp, encouraging our students and staff to push their learning forward. With the school year in full swing, I urge parents and guardians to continue encouraging students to give their best each day. Stay focused, be engaged, and come energized, and ready to learn. We are committed to delivering high-quality instruction daily.
Update on Bond 2024
The Board of Trustees has selected the site for our new Hempstead Early Childhood Center. Several meetings have taken place to discuss programming and design for the new campus. We are also in the early stages of planning the new band hall and cafeteria at Hempstead High School, a new gym and the enclosed connector from the middle school to the Bobcat Den, and an enclosed connector to connect all the buildings at the elementary school. At Bobcat Stadium, geotechnical work has begun, including soil testing. The process is moving along and we will keep you informed as Bond 2024 progresses.
Community Engagement & Parent Support
Thank you to everyone who attended the Hempstead ISD Fall Festival! We are fortunate to have such strong community participation at our events. Thank you for always showing up.
I can’t say enough about how blessed we are to have such a supportive, engaged community here in Hempstead ISD. You show up, you participate, and you stand by us every step of the way. Whether it’s cheering at a football game, attending a festival, or simply encouraging our students, you help make our schools the vibrant, welcoming places they are. Together, we’re building something amazing, and I’m grateful to each of you for being part of this journey to #HigherHeights!
With Bobcat Pride,
Herbert O’Neil
