Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
It’s Homecoming!
I want to thank Hempstead High School's principal, Ms. Morgan, and the Hempstead High School staff for organizing our annual Homecoming Parade and Community Pep Rally. What a fantastic event! I am always amazed by the continued support of our community. It was wonderful to see our students, staff, alumni, and community members involved in this year’s celebration. Don’t forget the big game at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4. We look forward to seeing you in the stands, cheering the Bobcats on to victory!
Earlier this week after work, I spent some time driving around town. I noticed that the new courthouse is taking shape, new large businesses are breaking ground, and our voter-approved bond projects will begin soon. Hempstead is under construction. It’s exciting to see the development and forward movement of our community. A thriving city and school system make for a great community. I can’t wait to watch these new projects take shape.
I also want to recognize all the Bobcat students participating in the Waller County Fair. I know how hard you’ve worked to participate and showcase your talents. Thank you for representing Hempstead ISD.
October is National Principals Month and I want our principals to know that we appreciate them. Serving as a principal is a hard job, they make it look easy. Thank you to our wonderful campus principals. To Keri Houston, Dr. Brittanee Shiflett, Erika Douglas, and LaKesha Morgan thank you for all that you do for your students, staff, and the community of Hempstead ISD.
Finally, I want to talk about teaching and learning. I’ve spent several days visiting classrooms throughout the district, and I am encouraged by the excellent teaching I see. Our teachers are doing outstanding work with our students. Parents and guardians, I challenge you to continue encouraging your children to be present, engaged, and ready to learn each day they enter the classroom. It takes dedication from both students and teachers to reach our goals.
Thank you for being an incredible community. Together, we will continue to #PowerUp and climb to #HigherHeights. I hope to see you at the game. Go Bobcats!
With Bobcat Pride,
Herbert O’Neil
