Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
As we continue to move through November, in the spirit of thankfulness, I want to give a big thank you to our district operations staff. In my weekly letter to staff this week, I shared how grateful I am that they do so much for our school district. I wanted to express that same sentiment with our stakeholders. We are blessed to have members of our operations staff who give so much of themselves each day for our students and staff. Our food services staff provides nutritious meals, our custodial team keeps our buildings clean, our bus drivers ensure our students arrive to and from school safely, and our maintenance team members ensure the effective operation of our buildings. A school cannot effectively run and educate students without all of their hard work and dedication. Let’s thank them for all that they do for Hempstead ISD.
Earlier this week we celebrated Veterans Day. I want to thank all of our veterans across our community for their service to this great country. So many of the freedoms that we all enjoy have been made possible because of the great sacrifices you have made and I am grateful for that.
Basketball has begun in Hempstead ISD. We invite you to take the time to attend an exciting Hempstead Bobcat basketball game this season. Our students always look forward to seeing you in the stands cheering them on.
In addition to athletics, I invite you to attend Hempstead High School Theatre’s production of Of Mice and Men at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Hempstead High School auditorium. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our talented students.
We are actively in the schematic design phase of Bond 2024. You may ask what does that mean. This means that architects and planners are developing initial ideas and visual representations that outline the project’s basic scope, scale, and functionality. We are working through schematic design on the new Hempstead Early Childhood Center, the new gym addition at Hempstead Middle School, the enclosed connector from the middle school to the Bobcat Den for safety, the addition of a new band hall and cafeteria at Hempstead High School, the enclosed connector connecting all the buildings at Hempstead Elementary for safety, and the updates to the baseball complex. In addition to schematic design work, the project at Bobcat Stadium is on track to start within the next week or two. This will cause some changes to our upcoming soccer schedule and we will be sure to give you the best information as it becomes available.
We also want you to know that we will have community meetings for all stakeholders along the way so that you know the progress of the bond projects. We want to keep you informed throughout this entire journey.
Thank you for being a great community. The #PowerUp is in full effect with our facilities and even more importantly our instructional improvements. Our teachers are doing great work. I continue to be impressed by what I see happening in our classrooms each day. Let’s keep going to #HigherHeights together.
With Bobcat Pride,
