Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,

Merry Christmas!

I wish each of you a joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with cherished moments with your family and friends. The joy of the Christmas season is something I truly value, and I am always grateful for the opportunity to reflect on the blessings of our community. I deeply appreciate each of you for your consistent partnership as we work together to ensure continued progress in Hempstead ISD.

Over the past week, our students have participated in festive Christmas activities while also demonstrating hard work and dedication on their interim assessments. These assessments help us gauge student performance on key learning standards, and it was evident that our students gave their best effort. Thank you parents for reinforcing the importance of these assessments with your children. The data we gather allows us to identify specific areas where additional support is needed, ensuring targeted interventions to help every student succeed. I also want to thank our teachers for their unwavering commitment to preparing our students for success in the classroom.

As we move forward, we will continue to ask more from our students academically. We strive to make our schools a place where learning thrives, creating a supportive environment where our teachers provide outstanding instruction every day. We believe in the potential of every student and expect them to perform at a high level. It is our responsibility to ensure this is possible, and we are fully committed to ensuring that our classrooms are places of excellence, growth, and inspiration.

When we return from the holiday break, we’ll hit the ground running as we prepare for the STAAR test. While STAAR is not the sole focus of our efforts, it is a state expectation, and we are committed to making continued progress. At the same time, I encourage our students to stay involved in clubs and extracurricular and co-curricular activities. These opportunities enhance the work being done in the classroom and contribute to a well-rounded educational experience.

We look forward to welcoming our students back on Wednesday, January 8. Let’s refocus and return with the energy and determination to be amazing and accomplish great things together. As always, continue to #PowerUp as we rise to #HigherHeights!

With Bobcat Pride,

HOneil
