Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
Happy International Women’s Day to all of the women who have been instrumental in paving the way for so many others in our great country. I want to recognize the women of Hempstead ISD who work hard to serve their community by educating the future of this community and our great state and nation. For a very long time, women have served as teachers and administrators educating students and inspiring them to be their very best. Thank you to our dedicated Hempstead ISD teachers and staff. We could not do this work without you.
Spring Break has arrived! Spring Break, March 11-15, is a time to enjoy some much needed time off for students and staff. I always encourage students and staff to enjoy their time off. Students, always make good choices while we are out. Have fun and be responsible. We look forward to seeing you back on Wednesday, March 20.
During the spring semester, we have many students who are participating and excelling in various activities across our district and our community. I had the opportunity to watch many of our students participate in the FFA Project Show. It always takes me back to a place when I showed pigs at the Hearne County Fair with our local 4H. Our track teams and our students participating in powerlifting continue to excel and our Hempstead Middle School Band and Hempstead High School Color Guard brought back top awards at their recent competitions.
Last night I had the opportunity to watch Hempstead Theatre Co. participate in the District One Act Play competition. It was a beautiful day of theatre in Van Vleck and our Hempstead Theatre team came out victorious. They received a first place rating from each judge and dominated the competition. They will move on to bi-district at Sealy High School on Saturday, March 23.
Finally, I want to remind you about the May 4, 2024 Hempstead ISD Bond Election. The bond will touch all of our students and campuses to ensure that our district facilities are safe and functional for all students and staff. Please visit the 2024 Bond website for more information. I encourage everyone to ensure they are a registered voter. Our country gives all of its citizens the right to vote. Anyone who is a registered voter and lives within the Hempstead ISD boundaries is eligible to vote in the 2024 bond election. The deadline to Register to Vote in the May 4 Election is Thursday, April 4, 2024. You can check your voter registration status or register to vote online.
Thank you for your partnership with Hempstead ISD. We cannot do the work that we do without the connection we have with each of you. Our trajectory to #HigherHeights is possible because you partner with us each day. Have a great Spring Break!
With Bobcat Pride,
Herbert O’Neil
Superintendent
Hempstead ISD
