Dear Bobcat Families & Staff,
The cold weather has certainly made its presence known across our community. I want to thank our families, students, and staff for their flexibility and understanding on Monday as we navigated weather-related conditions. Thankfully, the worst of the storm stayed away from our area, and we were able to prioritize safety while minimizing disruption.
I also want to extend my appreciation to our Hempstead Elementary parents and staff for their quick response following the water main break near the campus on Tuesday. Families responded promptly, and staff worked efficiently to ensure all students were dismissed and returned home safely by late morning. Because we have instructional minutes banked, there is no need to make up instructional days at this time. Thank you all for working together to make what could have been a challenging situation a smooth and orderly transition.
Across Hempstead ISD, our focus on strong instruction remains at the center of everything we do. This year’s B-Bold focus to Be Bold. Be Clear. Be Better continues to guide our work in classrooms every day. We want students actively engaged in learning, thinking critically, asking questions, and taking ownership of their growth. When instruction is clear and intentional, students are better positioned to succeed, and we continue to see the impact of that work across our campuses.
I am also incredibly proud of our seniors as they continue to take important steps toward their futures. Many are actively applying to colleges, universities, trade schools/technical programs, and pursuing service in the military. These decisions reflect months and years of hard work, perseverance, and growth. No matter the path they choose, our seniors are preparing to leave Hempstead ISD with options, confidence, and a plan for what comes next, and that is something worth celebrating.
I would also like to give a Bobcat shoutout to our soccer teams for starting the season strong. We are proud of the way they are competing and representing Hempstead High School with pride and sportsmanship. In addition to soccer, our students are actively preparing for or competing in track and field, powerlifting, basketball, UIL Academics, UIL One Act Play, and softball and baseball. There are so many opportunities for our students to get involved, challenge themselves, and represent our district at a high level.
At Hempstead ISD, we know that students thrive when they are engaged, academically, athletically, and creatively. Bobcats are better when they are involved, and we are proud of our students for showing up, participating, and giving their best each day. Thank you to the teachers, coaches, counselors, sponsors, and families who support our students as we work together to reach #HigherHeights.
